William Ian Miller is the founder of the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions at Princeton University, and an expert on political institutions. His research has focused on the nature of presidential accountability, legislative politics, and how institutional arrangements affect public policy. Miller received his B.A. in history from Harvard University and his Ph.D
in political science from Yale University. He currently teaches there as professor of political science. Dr.
Miller is the author of seven books, including The Political Lives of Nations (Harvard University Press), which received the American Political Science Association's Book Award for Best Book of 1992; Presidential Accountability (Oxford University Press); and Congress: A Political-Economic History (Princeton University Press).
